A right to quality medical care is incidental to the fundamental right to life, and is recognized as such in the majority of the advanced Western Democracies, but questioned and under constant attack by the special interests, especially the pharmaceutical companies and the medical insurance industry, as well as politicians (predominantly the Republicans) these interests buy. One of the areas of greatest health care importance is dentistry, a care of the least affordability for the average American In spite of the fact that poor dental health causes a host of gastrointestinal and other basic health problems, the insurance companies deny coverage for most dental care under a preposterous pretext that such care is cosmetic, not medical. In Congress, Dr. Roginsky will lead to expand the Affordable Care Act to the area of dental implants and other areas of orthodontics.
